About Susan Whitney
Professional Profile
Susan Whitney is a distinguished Canadian fine art appraiser known for integrity, expertise, and deep knowledge of the art world. She provides professional appraisal services for public galleries, museums, art dealers, collectors, donors, estates, insurance companies, financial institutions, governments, and Crown corporations. Susan has completed all course and examination requirements of the International Society of Appraisers, of which she is a past member.
Born in Ireland, Susan studied Fine Art at Sir George Williams University in Montreal and the University of Regina. She returned to her birthplace and exhibited her own work through the Royal Dublin Society and the Dublin Project Art Gallery. Subsequently, Susan became the Director of the Kesik Gallery Regina. In 1979 she founded the Susan Whitney Gallery, a vibrant and nationally acclaimed commercial gallery in Regina, representing many of Canada's most important notable artists throughout its twenty-six-year history.
Since 2005, Susan's professional focus has been fine art appraisal.
Leadership and Contributions
For decades, Susan has been an influential leader in Canada's arts sector. She is a past president and honorary lifetime member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada and the founding president and honorary lifetime member of the Saskatchewan Professional Art Galleries Association. Her leadership roles have included serving as Vice Chair of Creative Saskatchewan and membership on numerous cultural boards and advisory groups at the provincial and national level.
